Shopify Functions is Shopify’s new pathway to renew the backend Shopify logic with custom code. The new venture gives Shopify increased flexibility and scalability at enhanced speed to accommodate any business need. With Shopify Functions, developers get to integrate custom code into the existing backend logic. The feature offers the flexibility of open-source platforms without the burden of managing the hosting, security, and forked code. Unlike Scripts, exclusive to Shopify Plus users, any user can access Functions. While Scripts needs Ruby code knowledge, users can install Functions with an app. They can configure it directly in the Admin to sell to millions of merchants on the Shopify App Store, which is an untapped market. The tool also has multiple Discount Combinations that allow for creating custom bulk discounts.
