Shopify is collaborating with China’s Fortune Global 500 eCommerce platform JD.com. The alliance opens up arenas for US merchants to sell to consumers across China utilizing JD’s cross-border eCommerce platform ‘JD Worldwide.’ This decision saves traders from the hassles of finding a market niche in cross-border commerce. China is the biggest eCommerce market globally and the most restricted and inaccessible one. The revenue is projected to reach $3.3 trillion by 2025, which is five times the size of the US eCommerce market. 52% of China’s total retail revenue is generated from eCommerce, presenting US traders with unparalleled opportunities. Gaining entry into the country’s eCommerce segment through one of their two massive B2C online retailers is sure to uplift Shopify’s reputation among US eCommerce merchants.
