Virtina won a project from a company that delivers the highest-quality of historical services. The client is a reputed company in Maryland, United States, that caters to all your content-related requirements. The company offers research, discovery, and experience services to government, corporate, legal, education, and museum clients.
The client helps create content for company history, strengthen social media content, and create blog write-ups. Their team has all the tools, experience, and resources to conduct in-depth historical research, create museum exhibit scripts, or provide archival management services to businesses.
The client offers its services on a WooCommerce website. They wished to modify the way "Add on" items were processed during checkout. Anytime a customer places an order, they must be able to buy the "Add-on" items with the main package. Not only that, but they also requested an automatic calculation of the quantity of "Add-on" items.
In other words, the cart should automatically calculate the quantity of the add-on based on the package. With this capability in place, the customer wouldn't need to input the add-on quantity manually. The Add-ons, the client, wanted to include with Oral history were "Keyword indexing" and "Time Stamping." For blog posts, they wished to have the "Copy editing" add on. For social media, they had a "Content optimization for Twitter" add-on.
All the add-ons under each package were priced differently. Keyword indexing costs $450 per interview. Professional copy editing of blog posts costs $75 per blog, and so on. If the customer buys two oral history interviews and selects the keyword indexing add-on for each transcript, the total cost of that add-on will be $900.
If a customer buys a six-month package of two blogs per month, a total of twelve blogs for the duration, and wants to purchase the copy editing Add-on, then the total amount for the add-on will be $900. Not only that, but the cart must also display how the amount was calculated. In this case, it'd need to show $75 x 12.
The Woo experts at Virtina got to work and addressed the add-on issue. The experts were able to change the add-on products that were added as a "variation product." As a result of this change, at checkout, the customer would see the total price of the packages with the add-on. The cost would also vary depending on the package type and quantity of each add-on selected by the customer.
