WooCommerce Integration Services:

Your gateway is approved. Now make the checkout actually take money.

We connect Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.Net, Square or your high-risk processor to WooCommerce, and build it for the two things that quietly break payments in 2026: High-Performance Order Storage and the block checkout.

No pitch. If it is a plugin install and a settings change, we will tell you that.

Most WooCommerce payment failures in 2026 are not the gateway’s fault

New WooCommerce stores now ship with High-Performance Order Storage and a block-based checkout. Gateway plugins written before that shift break in two specific, very unhelpful ways.

Failure one

The payment method simply is not there

The classic checkout let a gateway register itself with a PHP filter. The block checkout does not. It uses a JavaScript registration API, and a gateway that has not been registered against it does not render at all.

Customers do not report this. They just leave, and your conversion rate drops for two weeks before anyone connects it to the update that switched the checkout over.

Same plugin, two checkouts. Only the block checkout requires explicit JavaScript registration, so an unregistered gateway disappears from it entirely.

Failure two

The order exists, but the plugin is looking in the old place

High-Performance Order Storage moved orders out of the WordPress posts table into dedicated order tables. WooCommerce’s own CRUD API reads whichever store is active, so it keeps working. Any plugin that queries orders with raw SQL against the posts table does not.

The symptoms are the worst kind: intermittent. Orders that do not appear in exports, statuses that never update, refunds that report success and do nothing.

The orders are fine. The plugin is querying a table WooCommerce no longer writes to.

What we actually build

The full path, not just the happy one

A payment is not one event. It is a sequence with branches, and most integrations only ever implement the branch where everything works. Here is the path we build and test.

How it works

From API keys to live checkout

Approval gets you a merchant account. This is the work that turns it into a checkout that takes money reliably, on a store you did not necessarily build. Step two is where most projects find their real problem, and it happens before anyone writes code.

1

Gateway review

Does your processor support your platform, currencies, product category and subscription model? Confirmed before anything is built.

2

Compatibility audit

Every order-touching plugin checked against HPOS and the block checkout. You get the list, with a recommendation per item.

3

Sandbox build

Test credentials, a staging copy of your store, and the eight-state matrix run end to end.

4

Checkout and risk

Tokenized capture, 3-D Secure, saved cards, recurring billing, fraud filters and a recognizable billing descriptor.

5

Order flow

Auth, capture, refunds, voids and chargeback evidence mapped to how your team actually fulfills orders.

6

Go live and monitor

Live keys, a monitored first week of real transactions, and documentation your team keeps.

WooCommerce payment gateway integration FAQ

How long does a WooCommerce payment gateway integration take?

A mainstream gateway with a maintained plugin and no complications is typically a few days including testing. Custom gateways built against a processor’s API, subscription handling, or stores that need an HPOS and block checkout cleanup first take longer. The gateway review tells you which you are before you commit.

Do I need a new plugin, or can you use the one I have?

If your plugin is maintained and declares HPOS and block checkout compatibility, we use it. Replacing a working plugin for no reason costs you money and risk. We recommend a change only when the current one is abandoned, incompatible, or missing something you actually need.

What is HPOS and does it affect me?

High-Performance Order Storage is WooCommerce’s order storage system, now the default on new installations. It affects you if any plugin on your store reads orders with raw database queries rather than WooCommerce’s CRUD API. The audit in step two tells you exactly which of yours do.

Will this work with the block-based checkout?

Yes, that is part of the build. The block checkout uses a JavaScript extensibility API rather than the older PHP hooks, so a gateway has to be registered against it explicitly. One that has not been will not render, or will render and then fail at payment.

Can you integrate a high-risk or offshore processor?

Yes. NMI, Authorize.Net, USAePay and Durango are common pairings, and we have built custom gateways against processors’ own APIs. If you have not chosen yet, start with our comparison of 15 high-risk gateways and the underwriting checklist.

Can you run more than one gateway on the same store?

Yes, and it is common: a primary processor plus a fallback, or different gateways by currency, product type or region. The routing rules need designing deliberately, because a badly configured fallback is worse than none.

Do you work on stores you did not build?

Most of this work is on stores built by someone else. We audit first precisely because we assume nothing about how the store was put together.

How much does a WooCommerce payment gateway integration cost?

It depends on the gateway, not the hourly rate. A maintained plugin on a clean store is a small, fixed job. A custom gateway against a processor’s API, subscriptions, or HPOS and block checkout cleanup adds scope. After the free gateway review you get a fixed quote, so the number does not move once work starts.

Does a gateway integration affect PCI compliance?

It can reduce it. When card details are captured in the gateway’s hosted fields or iframe and tokenized, the card number never touches your server, which usually keeps a store in the simplest PCI self-assessment scope. We build that way by default and document it so you can complete your questionnaire.

Why are my WooCommerce Subscriptions renewals failing?

Automatic renewals need a gateway that stores a reusable payment token and supports off-session charges. If the gateway or its settings do not, renewals fall back to manual or fail silently. We check token support, retry rules and failed-payment emails as part of the eight-state matrix.
