Virtina won a challenging project from a prominent fantasy draft board website. The client wanted to allow their users to customize a football or baseball fantasy draft board on their Volusion site. They requested an interface (building tool), which would enable their users to create these draft boards with ease.
The client wanted to give their users the ability to change various parameters and modify the draft board. The ability to personalize would allow every user to design the fantasy draft board. Besides, it becomes easy for the admin to print out the same draft board effortlessly.
The client also requested the creation of a dynamic form. The form should allow the users to add some text on the draft board they selected. They'd be able to change the added text on a later date. The text field has a limitation of fourteen characters. This form is especially useful when users don't have the time to design the board.
The website should first allow the user to custom design the fantasy board. Once done, the admin should be able to easily retrieve all the orders of such draft boards. Post this, the admin must be able to print the draft board directly from a PDF file. Earlier, they had to rely on graphic designers to design the draft boards in software tools, such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe InDesign.
Our development team created a tool that allows their customers to design a sports draft kit on the site. Once a registered user clicks on the "customize" button, he/she enters the design application that opens within the same window. The user can change the number of teams, rounds, color, graphics, size, material, and various other draft board attributes with ease.
The tool allows users to add and make various changes to the base product and see the changes in real-time, alongside the price changes (Automatic Preview). Once the customer has finished designing, he/she gets directed back to the product page, and the updated cost is displayed. The user may click "Add to Cart" at this point and continue with the checkout.
To address the dynamic form requirement, the developers relied on an external third-party tool called Cognito forms. The use of this form builder allowed the client to customize and create powerful forms with ease. The client could easily control the logic and flow within the dynamic form.
Beyond this, we also built an administration page where an admin can control the tool's various attributes. The variables set by the admin here is what appears (populates) on the tool that their customers access on the front-end. The admin can also see all the placed orders.
The dashboard then allows the admin to generate the full-size printable images of the draft boards in a PDF format for printing. This proved to be way less stressful for the admin and more comfortable to manage and execute. The entire process eliminated the need for any manual intervention from graphic designers. Besides this, the building tool helped the client's customers to change and configure every aspect of the draft board with ease.
