Virtina won a project from a Dealer/Wholesaler in the United States that deals in firearms and ammunition. As per the project, we were to display guns that are in stock from 6 different vendors. Any variation in the firearm stock will then reflect in real-time on this portal, that runs on Magento.
The client was relying on Dropshipping and never held any stock of the products sold on their webstore. As such, they wanted to find a way to import the products that are available with different vendors. What they needed was a custom integration with six different wholesaler inventory feeds.
There was nothing that existed to get the FFL dealers stock onto the site. Virtina had to develop the same from scratch. Done using API/FTP feeds to import inventory data. Update the inventory each hour via an automated process.
Besides this, the client requested a Federal Firearms License (FFL) certificate validation on their site. Giving shipping & transferring firearms the requisite validation.
EasyPost was the shipping method integrated into the site to ensure a smooth delivery. The Magento admin manages the EasyPost shipments. Besides this, Virtina incorporated a functionality called FFL finder (via zip code), which made it easier to find a local dealer.
Custom integration with wholesaler inventory feeds meant the client did not have to enter products into their retail system manually. Could reorder inventory based on pre-set min/max levels. Could display the available stock in real-time with the help of the drop shipping functionality.
