Virtina recently completed a challenging project for Summation Technologies, the esteemed client requested the project. The client is a mainstream retailer of printer-related categories products, photocopying machines, disc publishers, business label printers, printer peripherals. They wanted to update their current system so that it would be better aligned with proceedings in other areas of their venture.
Summation Technology is a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of optical disc and industrial labeling equipment, consumables, and support agreements. Customers range in size from small businesses to large corporations. The majority of sales are within the United States (US) distributed across 26 states. Optical disc customers include medical imaging, financial records, state and federal law-enforcement, US military, defense firms, and church ministries. On-demand industrial labeling customers include small equipment manufactures, food and beverage, and agricultural companies.
A reputed supplier of printer-related machines, the B2B company is a supplier of trusted brands of printer-related machines, inkjet label rolls, ink cartridges, discs products, USB and other own supplier products. The customer group of ST predominantly consisted of schools, corporates and other companies. The method of operation of ST is as follows. Customer places an order, the order is successively reviewed by the site admin, then the purchase order is proceeded to the supplier. The shipment of products is sent to the customer.
The earlier website of ST was an old HTML website with incompetent design as of the 90’s. The team at Virtina decided that serious work was required and a migration was confirmed on the Magento platform. The major task before the Virtina team was replatforming ST site. From the old platform migration was planned to the Magento platform. This included the migration of a 15 year business database to Magento. It was estimated by the team that 20 Lakh old orders and details were required to be migrated.
The huge task was completed and the team was preoccupied with the next consideration at hand. The team worked on Kickbooks online functions rendering for ST. Kickbook which was an accounting software used for inventory management and purchase order management was employed for ST. Kickbook was set for only business invoice tracking for ST. The supply order management task would be delivered by Magento platform.
There were more important tasks to be completed. The next plan was to render ST multistore functions which was actualized by DiCom - a multi-site.The Dicom site would facilitate X-Ray devices supply. It would showcase a request for quote option for the customers planning to purchase X-ray devices at high-end costs. A catalogue listing of the products would be provided. Product detailing would also be provided. The product page would contain all details of products, video demos. The customer planning purchase would be able to contact ST offline. The team at Virtina easily managed to set this business logic. They used Dicom and listed high-end brands in it. This was facilitated after Magento migration. Firstly, the site migration was planned to Magento 1.9. Then, the successive migration was to Magento 2.
Committed team at Virtina had much to work on based on their commitment with ST. It was envisioned that they must be able to offer their customers the best user experience possible. This meant new website developments and integrating it with Magento, which is an eCommerce platform used for online orders. One such prime consideration was based on payment options for customers. It was essential that a secure payment option was introduced on the site. Thus, PayPal Payflow payment was introduced on the site. The transaction process is as follows. Initially the amount would be authorized and the site admin would review and capture the entire amount, then the amount would be drawn from the account. Thus, the entire process would be marked absolutely safe for the customers.
The diligent team at Virtina is always working to make a better experience for the customers!
Summation Technologies website was an outdated system that had been in use since 2007. Obviously, ST needed major updates and changes so they could keep up with competitors. This is where Virtina came into picture as we were able to update all of their systems while also adding functionality features such as mobile devices support or more.
The project management team at STI worked together with our developers and designers to map out every step on how this migration would happen seamlessly without any interruptions in service for the customer base during the process. They wanted us to think about some specific goals: upgrading from older versions of software, overhauling database structures, migrating data across databases, restructuring of websites.
"We mapped out every step on how this migration would happen seamlessly without any interruptions in service for their customer base," quipped an employee from Virtina about the recent project we completed for Summation Technologies. "They wanted us to think about some specific goals: upgrading from older versions of software, overhauling database structures, migrating data across databases and configuring the new store structure. The process was complicated, but we strategized things carefully."

We mapped out every step of our migrations so that all services were uninterrupted to customers during upgrades. Migrating data across databases is not as simple as it sounds, but with careful planning and time management it can be done successfully. Modernizing structures in order to stay up-to date with newer software versions requires ample research before starting a major upgrade.
The client wanted to migrate their Magento store from one server to another. The migration would be a major undertaking and they were looking for a reliable company with experience in the field of database migrations - who could take care of all the technical aspects, including installing patching when necessary, so that customers wouldn't be disrupted during this time period. With our long history in handling these types of projects we are confident it was an excellent fit for us!
