• ATF proposed a revised Form 4473. A second May 2026 proposal would simplify the form, allow software to pre-fill more fields, and extend how long a completed form and background check stay valid. The buyer would still complete it in person at the dealer.
• Payments remain the biggest risk. Mainstream processors still restrict firearms, so a platform that locks you into its own payment service can put your store at risk.
